Zum Thema Gehwegparken wende ich mich an die Bezirksregierung Köln, die die Fachaufsicht über die Stadt Bonn hat. Die Antwort fällt ernüchternd aus.
🇩🇪 — Hi, ich bin Martin Ueding; Physiker, Maschinenlerner, Softwareentwickler und engagiere mich für die Mobilitätswende. Ich habe recht früh mit dem Programmieren angefangen und schreibe darüber im Bereich »Code & Zahlen«. Aktuell schreibe ich am meisten zu Verkehrsthemen, manchmal auch noch über Wissenschaft, Maschinenlernen oder anderen Dingen, die mir einfallen. Die eher technischen Dinge schreibe ich meist auf Englisch, den Rest auf Deutsch.

Nachfrage zur Radverkehrsführung durch Stoßdorf
Neulich schrieb ich zu Radwegen auf der Gegenseite am Beispiel von Stoßdorf bei Hennef. Da bin ich neulich nochmal entlang gefahren und habe gesehen, dass eine Streuscheibe der östlichen Ampelanlage eine Durchfahrt auf dem nördlichen Radweg suggeriert. Das ist inkonsistent mit der westlichen Ampelanlage. Nochmal zur Übersicht die Karte von OpenStreetMap:
Plasma with Wayland not usable yet
Ever since KDE 4 I have been using Plasma on my personal laptop. And I also use it at work. But every since I use it with X.Org, although there is Wayland support. Lately I had some glitches with the USB-C dock and external screens, so I thought about giving Wayland a try. The screens got recognized well, but there were other glitches that made it practically unusable:
Threads on Twitter
On Twitter one can often see people who have more to say than the character limit allows in a single tweet. They usually then reply to their own tweet and create a thread by doing so. One can feel that the medium isn't made for short articles. This is why I like my blog, I can just write as much text as I want. I can include more than four images. And I can structure the paragraphs like I want. People can share the URL as one tweet, or send me an e-mail discussing the whole post.
Lacking Uncertainty Estimations in Natural Language Processing Papers
My university background is physics, which is an empirical science. All measurements or derived quantities must be quoted with an error estimate. This should ideally include both a statistical and a systematic error. If you take a look at the paper from my thesis, you will find this table:

Ich habe immer wieder die gleichen Diskussionen beim Thema Verkehr. Daher habe ich jetzt einfach mal ein paar Dinge als Argumentationshilfe gesammelt.
Obsidian Markdown
A while ago I have written about note-taking software. At the time the most promising candidates were Joplin and just flat Markdown files. A colleague has told me about Obsidian. It is an awesome note taking application as it satisfies all the needs that I have: It uses plain Markdown files to store the notes, there is on siloization into an opaque database. But it provides a file explorer to quickly switch between notes. It also has some gadgets like a link graph, but I haven't used these yet.
Joggen und Radfahren
Wenn ich mich bewegen möchte, mache ich das meist mit dem Fahrrad. Da komme ich gut rum, kann viel sehen und kann auch in der Natur sein. Zudem soll es auch schonender für die Gelenke (im Vergleich zum Joggen) sein. Dann hat es weniger Rüstzeit als beim Schwimmen. Ich kann einfach das Fahrrad aus dem Keller nehmen und losfahren.
Code Documentation Epiphany
In the past decades I have written a bunch of software. And most was rather ephemeral stuff, like hobby projects or university assignments. In most cases there was no need for any sort of formal documentation. I would understand the code as I am working on it, and once I have abandoned it, it would never be touched again anyway.
